Detailed Product Description
Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G Design and Build
The smartphone has a sleek and durable design with several notable features. It measures 162.3 x 74.4 x 8.2 / 8.5 mm and weighs 190 grams. Compared to other smartphones, it is relatively thick and heavy. Comparatively, the Note 13 Pro, its predecessor weighed 187g and measured 161.2 x 74.2 x 8 mm (6.35 x 2.92 x 0.31 in). The Note 14 is bulkier and heavier, something most Xiaomi Redmi users will note.
The phone has a plastic frame with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the front for added durability. It comes with an IP68/IP69K dust/water resistant (up to 2m for 24 hours) rating. The handset is available in multiple colors, including Black, White, Purple, and Green. An in-display fingerprint sensor ensures security and convenient unlocking to use the device. Overall, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is both stylish and practical, offering a good balance between aesthetics and durability.
Display
Enjoy an immersive viewing experience on the large, 6.67-inch-OLED display. The screen is as impressive and effective as one would expect for Xiaomi mid-range smartphones. Up to 3,000 nits brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1220 x 2712 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~446 ppi density) all together ensure a great viewing experience as you watch YouTube videos and movies, play games, or browse through your phone apps. Protecting the impressive 4K display is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, thus ensuring durability and continued optimized user viewing experience on a scratch-free, cracks-free screen.
Performance
Operating System
Redmi runs on Android 14, HyperOS. It is an upgrade from the Android 13, with up to 3 major Android upgrades, HyperOS on Redmi Note 13 Pro released on 21 September 2024.
Chipset
The Note 14 Pro handset is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra (4 nm) chipset. It is an upgrade from Note 13 Pro’s Qualcomm SM7435-AB Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 (4 nm), offering more efficiency and power needed for tasks and gaming.
The chip comes integrated with:
- CPU: Octa-core (4×2.40 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4×1.95 GHz Cortex-A55) for multitasking and ensuring efficiency across multiple opened apps as you browse through your phone.
- GPU: Adreno 710, providing a seamless gaming experience for mid-setting games.
Storage Specifications
Enjoy massive internal ROM storage and accompanying RAM on the 14 Pro series model. Download apps and files, and store multimedia content on the several model variants, depending on your preference. The available variants, based on storage specs include:
- 256GB 8GB RAM
- 512GB 12GB RAM
Expandable memory support has not been specified, but card slots could be a great feature for additional memory, considering you have only 512GB ROM Max. A 1TB additional memory option would be highly appreciated and preferable by users, considering how fast the seemingly 256/512GB can get consumed, with the copious multimedia files from social media, video recordings, movies, and games eating up space.
Camera Set up
The camera setup on the Redmi Note 14 Pro is typical for a mid-range smartphone. It offers decent performance, especially with the decent pacakge:
- 200 MP, f/1.7, 23mm (wide), 1/1.4″, 0.56µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS
- 8 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm
- 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro) sensor.
It features LED flash, HDR, panorama, and OIS for image stability. Capture selfies with the single, 20 MP (wide) front camera. Notably, the front camera records 1080p videos while and camera records 1080p and 4K videos.
The ability to record 4K videos makes it favorable and preferable to the more limited Note 14. Interestingly, the Redmi Note 13 came with an impressive 108MP+8MP+2MP triple camera setup that recorded 1080p videos. Note 13 Pro features an impressive 200MP + 8MP+ 2MP. Though the camera setup on Redmi 14 Pro is an upgrade from the one installed on Note 14, it is still far below the dominant package on the Note 13 series. Why the downgrade of some sort?
